West Qantara Industrial Zone is a specialized development hub within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) designed to integrate industrial capacity with a residential community in a unique agricultural setting. Positioned along the Port Said-Ismailia road, the zone leverages its proximity to the fertile Delta region to serve as a primary center for agribusiness and light manufacturing.
Strategic Location and Market Access
The West Qantara development is situated at the heart of significant population centers, providing access to a substantial labor pool and consumer market. It is located within the Ismailia Governorate, home to 1.3 million residents, and is 11 kilometers from Ismailia City, which has a population of 471,000. Furthermore, the zone is adjacent to the Sharqia Governorate, where 8 million people reside. This geographic positioning facilitates logistics and supply chain operations between the agricultural lands of the Delta and the maritime infrastructure of the Suez Canal.
Industrial and Commercial Offering
Currently, 13.6 square kilometers are available for development within the zone. The site is optimized for a diverse range of sectors, with a primary focus on agribusiness, food processing, and beverages. Additional target industries include textiles and ready-made garments, light industries, and feeding and integrated industries. The master plan also incorporates commercial uses, SME parks, and comprehensive logistics services such as warehousing, transportation, and dry port facilities.
Infrastructure and Utility Capacity
To support intensive industrial operations, West Qantara is equipped with dedicated utility systems. The facility includes a water lift plant and storage system with a capacity of 35,000 cubic meters per day, complemented by a sewage treatment plant of equal capacity for wastewater. Power is supplied via a 20 MVA electricity distributor. Internal logistics are supported by 32 kilometers of main roads, ranging in width from 35 to 75 meters, ensuring efficient movement of goods and personnel.
Governance and Business Environment
The zone is managed by the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), an autonomous body with full executive and regulatory powers. This authority oversees all operations, staffing, and funding while offering investor-friendly incentives and business facilitation services. The overarching mission of the SCZONE is to establish a competitive, eco-friendly environment that functions as a global center for maritime transport and a gateway for trade between East and West.
The development of West Qantara represents a calculated expansion of regional industrial infrastructure, aligning utility-ready land with high-density labor markets to support regional and international trade.
