Sokhna Industrial Zone is a premier industrial and port complex situated within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), designed to serve as a global hub for manufacturing, logistics, and maritime trade. Connectivity is a primary driver of the zone’s value proposition, with direct links to major population centers and transport hubs. The site is located one hour from Cairo and 30 minutes from both Suez City and the New Administrative Capital. It is integrated with the 30th June axis, connecting Port-Said to Zafarana. Logistics are further enhanced by its proximity to the Ain Sokhna Port, which handles containers, dry bulk, liquid bulk, and general cargo. Air transport access is provided via Cairo International Airport (1.5 hours) and the New Administrative Capital airport (30 minutes).
Utility Provisioning and Resource Management
To support intensive manufacturing, the Sokhna Industrial Zone provides robust utility infrastructure. This includes a seawater desalination plant with a daily capacity of 100,000 cubic meters and a wastewater treatment facility capable of processing 35,000 cubic meters per day. A separate portable facility provides an additional 2,000 cubic meters per day of wastewater treatment. Energy availability exceeds 1500 MVA, ensuring sufficient power for heavy industrial requirements. These facilities are designed to support a projected capacity of over 85,000 jobs, building upon the 30,000 direct and indirect opportunities already created.
Governance and Regulatory Framework
The zone is governed by the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, an autonomous body with comprehensive executive and regulatory powers over the broader 455-square-kilometer region. This authority oversees staffing, budgeting, and the development of partnerships while possessing the mandate to approve decrees and propose investor incentives. SCZONE focuses on creating a conducive business environment through streamlined facilitation services, aiming to support both new entrants and the expansion of existing investors within world-class industrial parks.
